This commission customized art work by a client is about painting on a leather card holder. After study and research of technique and approach to handle the leather, I explored the leather-specific acrylics. It started with two sketches of different perspective of the manta ray for choice of my client, sand paper and deglazer, layers and layers of thin paint, and

finally a sealing process to protect the paint.

 

This manta is swimming from deep to shallow water into a “cleaning station”, where fishes eat the parasite on manta’s skin. Full of corals, reef fishes habitants, plankton, and beam of light stream, they are accompany of this manta ray.
